Gross studied Politics and Public Administration (Bachelor of Arts) at the University of Konstanz as well as History and Politics of the 20th Century (Master
of Arts) at the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena. Since September 2012 he has been research associate and teaching assistant at the Chair of Political Science III, Comparative Government. Since March 2015 he is working in the project "Where Is My Party? Determinants of
Agreement about the Ideological Positions of Political Parties" located at the Mannheim Centre for European Social Research (MZES). In July 2015, he has defended his dissertation with the title „Koalitionsbildungsprozesse auf kommunaler Ebene: Schwarz-Grün in deutschen Großstädten“ ("Coalition-building processes at the local level: Black-green in large German cities") at the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena, which was supervised by Prof. Dr. Torsten Oppelland. Since March 2016 he is working as post-doc researcher in the project ‘COHESIFY: The Impact of EU Cohesion Policy on European Identification’ at the Mannheim Centre for European Social Research.
